I can help you when you and your spouse or another family member are having problems or when members of your family want and need help. Examples of situations where I can help include

  • Conflicts in your marriage
  • Relationships between you and your parents
  • Relationships between you and your older children

Some relationship issues can be best resolved when you and your spouse, parents, or children participate in the counseling. As in individual counseling, I help you and your family members

  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses in your relationships
  • Develop strategies to help you deal with conflicts and reach your goals
  • Motivate you to follow these strategies to achieve a successful outcome

Insurance companies pay for family counseling the same way they pay for individual counseling. They can handle it through their Employee Assistance Program or it can be covered by medical or mental health insurance. If you have questions about your insurance coverage or need help, please call me at the number above. Click to see what insurance I accept or you can pay privately.

I use a friendly but focused manner to help each of you seek meaning in your life and to learn good self care. I want all involved to end up with a win-win solution. I want you to be real, honest, and truthful. We can only change ourselves, not others. On the other hand, if you're constantly trying to improve yourself and its not working, maybe its time to focus on the positive qualities you have.

Counseling involves taking risks and trying new things. It is a process and most of your successes will happen on your time, not at my office. You must be motivated and accept direct and honest feedback. I expect you to use your new information to improve your situation. And if you're not sure if it's worth your time to talk to me, think of it as an opportunity to get a "reality check".
