Geriatric Counseling

I offer supportive counseling to the elderly in my office or at a long-term care facility that helps them deal with issues such as:

• Loss of functioning
• Loss of independence
• Changing medical conditions

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing

Critical incident stress debriefing (CISD) helps people deal with tragedy and other high-stress incidents. I have participated in de-briefing situations such as:

• Job-related deaths
• Job-related serious injuries
• Suicide
• Robbery

The purpose of a de-briefing is to help people deal with the thoughts and reactions of an event and to give information on how they can help themselves deal with these issues. People may be able to work through this alone, but we found that people who go through a de-briefing process sleep, eat and relax better.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse Assessments

I can determine whether employees or other persons have problems with drugs or alcohol that require professional treatment. If they do, I can help them get the treatment they need by referring them to organizations and counselers that specialize in drug and alcohol abuse treament.
